Air Exchange - Badges - Trace Gas Testing

What is Air Exchange Rate Testing?

Air Exchange Rate Testing tests the amount of ventilation a room receives, which is expressed as the number of times air within the room is exchanged per hour...

Air Exchange Testing is required in Operating Rooms, Labor & Delivery Rooms, Isolation Rooms, Laboratories, Autopsy Rooms, and some other areas as well:

The air exchange testing measures the number of air exchanges per hour. The FGI (Facility Guidelines Institute) sets the guidelines for the number of air exchanges per hour. The "charge" of the room is also tested in accordance with FGI Guidelines.

What is the purpose of badges?

Each year approximately 99,000 patients die from hospital-acquired infections. This is one of the steps taken to test to make sure hospitals and their staff are as clean as can be...

What is Nitrous Oxide Trace Gas Testing?

N2O Trace Gas Testing tests the level of waste anesthetic gas present. Areas where testing is generally done are: operating rooms, delivery suites, post-op recovery...

Testing will be performed as per the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health Guidelines for recommended exposure limits for Nitrous Oxide.

The testing will be performed using a Bacharach Trace Gas Analyzer using a time weighted average (TWA) during simulated anesthetic administration.

Results will be provided in a detailed report upon completion and will indicate if the analysis found any area (s) that exceeded the 25 part per million (PPM) time weighted average (TWA) exposure limit in the breathing zone.
